Getting started
Getting started checklist
The setup guide on your dashboard — what each step does and how to finish them all.
Last reviewed 2026-07-23
When you first sign in, the dashboard opens with a setup guide — a progress ring, a step-by-step tracker, and one recommended next action. Every step is checked off automatically from real data: add a property and the "Add your first property" step completes on its own. There's nothing to tick manually.
The steps
- Create your account — already done the moment you see the guide, so the ring never starts at zero.
- Verify your email — confirms you can receive owner statements, alerts, and receipts. Several actions (like sending tenant invites) are blocked until this is done.
- Add your first property — the address plus a name you'll recognize on reports. The step's button opens the property form with a guided tour.
- Add a unit — set the rent, deposit, and bedroom/bath counts so leases can attach to it.
- Connect your bank (Plaid) — optional. Auto-imports transactions so categorization rules keep your books current.
- Set up online rent collection (Stripe) — optional. Lets tenants pay rent online via ACH or card.
- Add your first tenant + lease — invite a new tenant or attach an existing one to a unit.
- Secure your account — optional. Add two-factor or a passkey.
Steps marked optional still count toward the progress ring — the guide only celebrates completion once every visible step, optional included, is done. Steps your role can't perform are hidden — for example, Connect your bank only appears if your role can manage accounting.
Working with the guide
- Click any step icon to jump to its page — steps can be done out of order, and completed steps click through for review.
- View all steps unfolds the full checklist under the recommended action.
- The collapse arrow shrinks the guide to a slim progress bar; your choice is remembered per device.
- The X hides the guide entirely. When every step is done, a one-time "You're all set up!" celebration shows, then the panel retires itself.
Guided tours
Some steps launch an interactive walkthrough that points at each field on the page while you fill it in with your own data. Add property opens the property form with the add-first-property tour running; there's a matching tour on the record-payment form. Tours start automatically from these links — just follow the highlighted prompts.
Getting help
Help travels with you in the topbar: click the question-mark icon to open the Help menu.
- Help center opens the Help page, where you can browse Videos, Docs, and What's new.
- Submit a support request opens a ticket form pre-filled with the page you're on; our team replies on the Help page under Support Tickets.
- Beta organizations also see Report a bug for sending feedback straight to the engineering queue.
Once the checklist is done, the dashboard becomes your daily home base — KPIs, alerts, and the work queue all live there.
